Potential Cause: Outdated Drivers

Before attempting other solutions, make sure your audio drivers are up-to-date by:

1. Navigate to the Device Manager
2. Expand the 'Sound, video and game controllers' dropdown
3. Right-click your sound controller within the list
4. Select the 'Update driver' option
5. Follow the instructions on-screen

Potential Cause: Default Format

Please ensure your 'Default Format' is set no higher than 24 bit, 48000 Hz by:

1. Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar
2. Select 'Sounds'
3. Select the 'Playback' tab
4. Right-click your output device and select 'Properties'
5. Select the 'Advanced' tab
6. Within the 'Default Format' dropdown, select 24 bit, 48000 Hz
7. Save your changes

Potential Cause: Audio Channels

Assuming you're using a headset or pair of speakers, adjust your Windows audio settings to utilise 2 channels (as opposed to 5.1 or 7.1). This can be done by:

1. Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar
2. Select 'Sounds'
3. Select the 'Playback' tab
4. Right-click your output device and select 'Configure Speakers'
5. Select 'Stereo' and proceed through the setup wizard
